Teaching

Attorney Smith has co-chaired "A View from the Bench: The Juvenile Court Justices of Middlesex County" for 11 years. This seminar has been sponsored or cosponsored by the Middlesex County Bar Association (from 1996 to 2000, 2003 and 2004), the Committee for Public Counsel Services (from 1996 to 2001), the Massachusetts Bar Association ( from 2001 to 2004) and the Juvenile Bar Association in Massachusetts (from 2005 to 2007.)

From February, 1996 to the present, Ms. Smith has been a Mentor for the Committee for Public Counsel Services to newer attorneys in helping them with their Care and Protection and Child in Need of Services cases.

Attorney Smith has taught civil procedure, litigation techniques, tort law and American Jurisprudence to paralegal students. She taught at Framingham State College in Framingham, Massachusetts and Pine Manor College in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts through the National Academy of Paralegal Studies, Inc. and at Mt. Ida College in Newton, Massachusetts.

Ms. Smith has taught at Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education, Inc. in Boston, Massachusetts in family and/or juvenile law since March 2002. Ms. Smith was on the faculty for the Family Trial Law Advocacy Workshops from 2002 to 2007 for Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education, Inc.

Attorney Smith has been on the Curriculum Committee in family law for the Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education, Inc. from January 2002 to the present.

In the spring of 2006, Ms. Smith acted as the wife's attorney in "A Divorce Play in Four Acts" for the Divorce Center, Inc., which is now available on DVD. Attorney Smith has been a lecturer for The Divorce Center, Inc., most recently on March 13, 2007. On November 4, 2006, Ms. Smith spoke on "Contracts" for the Massachusetts Justice of the Peace Association, Inc. at their "All Day Educational Seminar for 2006."
